Belashuru is a love story of an old couple that leaves a footprint on the sands of time. When marriage becomes a habit and love is defined by the welfare of the family, it’s easy to lose each other for the happiness of the rest. That happens to Biswanath (Soumitra Chattopadhyay) and Arati Sarkar (Swatilekha Sengupta), who are otherwise content in their own space. But things take a tragic turn in the Sarkar household, when Arati is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and loses most of her memories and an understanding of the present. She starts living in the past and fails to recognise her husband, Biswanath. Despite efforts by her children and grandchildren, she still remains caught in time warp. To give a jolt to her failing memory, the family plans to travel to Bangladesh, where Arati spent her childhood days. This journey is a lesson in love, relationship and bonding for Arati and Biswanath’s children too. Will Arati recover or is it the end of the road for her? Belashuru, a sequel to Belasheshe (2015), is a documentation of love and the pathos that runs through it.
